90’s-inspired, horror point-and-click game

Jorry is a point-and-click game developed by Korozil. If you are a fan of the classic horror games of the ’90s, this game has it, including an action and survival gameplay. It gives you the reigns to a woman named Claire, who woke up tied and trapped in an unknown room. She cannot remember anything at all. And to make matters worse, there is a chainsaw-wielding man out to get her. It is up to you to help her get out from there. Well, you and a girl named Jorry, who seems to know her. Fully playable with the mouse, Jorry is a game that requires sharpness. It involves a lot of riddles and puzzles that need solving. Be warned though, this game contains violence in 16-bit and is intended for adult audiences.

Old story, modern gameplay

The story of Jorry is essentially the same as other horror games. And if that is not enough, Jorry’s entire story is vague and difficult to piece. It is cryptic until the end of the game. The game offers multiple ending, but there is only a single clear-cut path. But what’s great about the game lies in its gameplay. At the core, it is an adventure game, but with survival and battles in it. You must explore several floors of the mysterious hotel and solve riddles to get to the bottom of it. It is not too complicated, and it knows the rules of the genre.  You almost always understand the goals and objectives.

However, that does not mean that the game is boring. The point-and-click aspect is hard, in that there is no handholding. You are never told where to go or what to do. Sure, there are hints, but it is easily missed. There’s tons of backtracking, limited resources, stamina, and ammunition, and a lot of enemies spawning. You just need to enjoy slower-paced games if you want to last in the game.

Jorry is a great game with a few shortcomings. The soundtrack needs work, the mechanics are little clunky, and the story is a cliché. However, the gameplay is deeply enigmatic, and its design is very stylish, even though the visual is modest. But, again, this game is not for everyone. It will only appeal to a very niche audience.
